The Perfect Weekend

What would your perfect weekend entail?
For me a perfect weekend is all about balance; specifically a balance between lazy, fun and productive. This last weekend was a good weekend -- complete with PLCs and a surprise party for Marissa. But, last weekend was really ideal.

First of all it was a three-day weekend. It was also the weekend after my birthday so I was feeling especially celebratory. Saturday included lunch plans with Team Howard and dinner plans with Teams Peterson-Cornelis and Beeston-Johnson following by drinks and dessert. This was the fun part. Then Sunday included recovering from the night before, laying around and reading "The Girl Who Played with Fire" on my new kindle. Monday was uber-productive -- errands, laundry, and catching up on a lot of work for the week ahead.

The challenge for me is to be able to fit those three things in during a normal two-day weekend ... and although I had fun (Marissa's party) and relaxed (12-hour recovery from Marissa's party) ... the PLCs I made on Saturday night prevented me from being particularly productive on Sunday (with the exception of a few hours) ... blarg.

What is your perfect weekend?

Photo Ops

Today was one of the rare days that I actually forgot my camera. To clarify, just because I have my camera at school does not mean that I remember to take pictures. But, today has been a day I wish I had my camera. If I did I would have tried to capture:

  • A fourth grade girl trying to suck orange juice out of an orange (and the expression on her face when she stabbed the straw into the peel)
  • Our class bunny using a copy of "Number the Stars" to prop himself up on (it truly looked like he was reading
  • Two kids rocking out on our keyboard
  • Four kids playing poker (is that allowed at school?)
  • Sharing my banana with Shadow (bunny)
  • A student hiding under my desk and then biting my knee.
Kids are weirdly great.
